MINISTRY - BIBLE VISION

In the Christian world there is no dearth of slogans. “God’s Word for all” is the slogan of a well-known Bible publishing house. However, the stark and uncomfortable reality is that Bibles are still found in abundance only in Christian homes. In our nation of India alone there are millions of homes without a Bible. Do we care?

Yes, indeed we have much to praise God for too! The Bible has been translated into twenty-six major languages and this is remarkable but are these Bibles reaching Bible-less homes? This is a passion and vision that has gripped our hearts. Perhaps, I can even boldly say that one of the greatest investments for eternity that you can make is to gift a Bible to someone who has never held one in his life before!

The power of God’s written word can never be emphasized enough. We have many, many exciting and powerful testimonies of lives transformed simply by the reading of God’s Word. The Gideons ministry, which also shares a similar vision, will also have thousands of testimonies to warm your heart. Truly, God’s word is sharper than any two-edged sword. But think on with us: Does the average urban educated man in our country know where and how he can get a copy of the Bible?  Even if he doesn’t, then what about the millions in our rural areas? There are millions of Bible less homes in India.

The Lord has burdened our hearts with this vision of planting Bibles in Bible-less homes and we must press on for an unfinished task beckon us. How do we carry out this vision? What is our modus operandi? It’s very simple, exciting and powerful. We have teams who move into the highways and by-ways of our land, many times in difficult terrain, in regions never reached before. They personally knock on doors and place a Bible in these homes. Along with the Bible we also give them a powerful evangelistic book. Many, many times the Bible is received with such joy and reverence that it moves our heart. One simple village man after receiving a Bible asked, “Is it alright now if I keep this Bible and also eat beef in my house?” Another said, “I am dirty and I need a bath before I touch this Holy Book.” Many such soul-stirring encounters on the field keep us energized and motivates us to keep on with the task.

In some areas churches have reported new members who have started attending their churches after reading the Bibles that were placed in their homes. This is a powerful partnership and we are encouraged. However, we desperately need more teams of men and women and vehicles to carry them into the many unreached areas. This means that we do need your financial support and prayers as never before.
