MINISTRY
Rural Uplift
QCI has always believed that it is not just to look after the Spiritual needs of the people but also a need to look after the physical needs of the people. And hence it branched out into the launching of Community Development Programmes.

Feeding Programs Feeding of poor village kids with one hot nutritious meal a day, has been going on for the last thirty years. This is again a felt need as there are several kids who have no proper food. Some of them do not have parents. The least we could do is to give them a good meal and also encourage them to attend the local village school. We have regular feeding for over a 100 kids now but we would like to extend the programme to several hundreds in the coming days. There is no limit for such help, we are grateful for the help in securing a better home for the Children’s feeding programme. We also have started a program exclusively for old people where some twenty of them do regularly partake of a meal. Vocational Training This is again part of the love-in-action project of Quiet Corner and this has been going on for over twenty five years. Over one hundred girls have been trained through this programme over the years. Right now sixteen girls are receiving training. If possible we also gift a sewing machine to each successful student after the training. With the help from a few churches we will be gifting more machine to these girls soon. This is again a great help to some, since it could help towards meeting their livelihood. In all this our desire is to share the love of Christ in a practical way. Your support and prayers are always welcome. Christmas Programme Every year, come Christmas and the crowds throng the mission compound to experience what they know to be Christmas with us. For over 32 years now, the spirit of Christmas, of giving and sharing, has been kept alive in these jungle regions amongst the poor and the needy. Their only wish-list is of clothes and blankets and they have never been disappointed. This year too, 1200 families received gifts of clothing and blankets, two hundred children received new clothes and over 1300 joined us for a sumptuous Christmas lunch, hence a Christmas message in word and deed! Their smiles and squeals of delight said it all. Catch a glimpse of the scenes that unfolded on Christmas day and be encouraged, for you played a major part with your sharing and for which we are thankful to God for you. Medical Ministry Gilgal Mission Hospital was established in 1984 and started functioning the same year. The 13 bedded hospital is equipped with basic equipments to meet the urgent needs of the local villagers in surrounding villages. It has a separate Doctors room, reception, Labor room, Laboratory with a tiny courtyard inside. But our medical outreach continues with fervor, in the surrounding habitats. Most common ailments are dealt with, as it is expensive for these folks to travel to a hospital. Sister Joyce faithfully overseas all these and shares the Word. Do pray for the reopening of Gilgal Mission Hospital as it is of vital importance. Home for the Aged This is of vital important, since the elderly of neighboring villages have no place to go and no one to look after. It is our passion to start a home for the aged adjoining Gilgal Mission Hospital where they could be given both their food and Medical aid. This project could in turn be beneficial to the locals since it would require for people to be employed from the village and hence creating an opening for employment for the unemployed. Praise God for the borewell in the premises for all water requirements. |
